We did'nt hear much about Nanosolar but the launch of this first automated Cutting Edge Solar Factory in Luckenwalde (about 60 kilometers south of Berlin) is quite unique in the World:
The solar mass production at the next level:
UL, IEC 61646-certified panel printed-CIGS-on-metal-foil devices reached up to 16.4% (NREL-verified)
Even if the current production is running at a subcapacity baseload rate of about 1MW per month, according to Nanosolar,Web widths run up to 1500mm on the cell line, while certain process steps can attain throughputs as high as 40m/min. A full roll of processed, unsingulated PV foil is equivalent to 100KW. This plant incorporating a fully automated, robotic line is capable of reaching a peak capacity of 640MW when operated around the clock.
After 3 years of quiet development, we understand finally why EDF(Enxco) and big Utilitie and top VC's are backing this fabulous company.
Just incorporate german Savoir Faire with californian Innovation....you get Solar production as it should be.
After reading my post, 3 new CIGS modules have been produced... Touch Down!
